Fragilités - Joël Lavoie Fragilités is a path strewn with hazy memories and lost desires. A passage built from fragments of unfinished music, with the sole purpose of finishing something—or of immersing myself in the uncertainty of a little boy who simply wanted to surround himself with tenderness. A conversation with memories, a sonic blanket, a forest of small moments. It is a performance that seeks to close a chapter, one that has stretched across more than twenty years of wandering, and perhaps also to bring about the end of a world. This 25-minute musical performance is drawn from pieces I composed using sounds that have followed me for a very long time. At times distorted, at times gentle, at times brief, at times fragile, at times beautiful. Now, they exist. Songs for telescope - LiY (Laurence Dauphinais + Simon Stephens + Christian Lapointe) LiY, which stands for Live into Yours, a quote found on the gold record sent into space in 1977, aptly reflects the origin of its name through its songs. Labeled as post-trip hop electro clash music, which evokes infinity and the cosmos, LiY draws inspiration from artists such as Portishead, Austra, The Knife, Spiritualized, Brutal Truth, PJ Harvey, and Björk. The trio attempts to evoke nostalgia for past moments while embracing future possibilities. They aim to give their listeners a sense of attraction that allows them to hold on and observe a universe in a world on the brink of collapse through Songs for Telescope. In particular, they translate the feeling of desire that emerges between two people as a feeling that still allows them to cling to life. Their collaboration with visual artist Sabrina Ratté for video and singer Mykalle Bielinski for backing vocals enriches their live performance.
