Communications Assistant

We are looking for a passionate communications assistant to join our dynamic team.

Located just steps away from the bustling Saint-Laurent Boulevard in the heart of Montreal, La Chapelle was founded in 1990. It is a creative space, a performance venue, and an organization dedicated to promoting the performing arts, with a focus on young artists and interdisciplinary and alternative forms of expression. Its programming offers French- and English-language theater, dance, performances, circus arts, music, and multidisciplinary works that transcend art forms. La Chapelle is seeking a Communications Assistant to actively contribute to communications for the current season, as well as to the preparation of the 2026–2027 season, which will be unveiled at the end of August. This position offers a unique opportunity to help showcase a bold artistic program and support La Chapelle’s mission. Under the supervision of the Director of Communications, the Communications Assistant will support La Chapelle’s communication and promotional strategies, ensuring the implementation of effective tools to reach diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the implementation of communication strategies; • Collect information to support future communications; • Write, publish, and integrate content across various platforms (website, social media, newsletters); • Manage and animate social media in line with La Chapelle’s identity; • Contribute to the design and production of promotional tools and visuals; • Send newsletters and update the website; • Analyze the reach and impact of communication initiatives; • Contribute to the archiving of past seasons on the website; • Support the organization of events, including the benefit evening and the 2025–2026 season launch; • Participate in team meetings and support communication-related initiatives.

Desired profile

• Strong interest in cultural communications; • Knowledge of social media platforms; • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French; • Good command of English (spoken and written); • Strong organizational skills, autonomy, dynamism, and creativity; • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines; • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn); • Knowledge of digital communication tools (Meta Business Suite, newsletters, websites, etc.) is an asset; • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro) is an asset; • Interest in the performing arts and cultural presentation.

Terms of employment

Location: La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines, Montréal • Schedule: 30 hours/week, with occasional evening and weekend availability for events • Duration: 30 weeks • Start date: March 9, 2026 • Compensation: $21/hour
