Winnin'

Winnin’,a shortened form of “winning,” means to succeed and to be the winner. A piece of slang from American culture, the expression is often used in rap and hip-hop lyrics to convey self-assurance, a sense of superiority over others. Imbued with this attitude, I aim to manipulate the conventions of representation in favor of a renewed experience, both as a performer and for the audience; a way of claiming power while maintaining a sincere desire for closeness with the public. Winnin’ is an attempt to control my environment, an anti-climax tinged with dark humor, a path marked by unpredictability, an experience of intimacy, derision, escape, and pleasure.
