In May 2020, Montréalers awoke to an unlikely and magical sight. Between the Clock Tower and the iconic Ferris Wheel, a fin broke the surface of the water, heralding the arrival of a young humpback whale that had wandered more than 400 km upriver. Its presence captivated the city and the country in a time of isolation and confusion. Whalefall is an original documentary theatre piece based on interviews with various experts on whales, their cultures and ecosystems, and touching on our deep connections with them. Whalefall integrates large-scale puppetry, object theatre, and original music to translate scientific findings in a poetic and accessible way.

Presented by Infinithéâtre in collaboration with La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines and co-presented with Festival international de Casteliers
