(Very) Gently Crumbling is a study. A test of endurance. For life is, in the end, nothing more than a certain process of deterioration. An ordinary decline, neither sad nor happy in itself. A simple occurrence. Where each impact leaves its mark, its scratch, its tear. Each assault leaves behind a surge of emotion that changes us forever. Through these traces that accumulate at random, propelled with urgency, one recurring idea emerges: resistance. To remain standing. To exist. We sway, we bend, we lose our footing, we come apart, we hit the ground under inevitable wear. We face it. Forces gnaw at us from the outside and, more threatening still, from within. A bruised heart. A dam breaking in the lower abdomen. Crack, crack, and crack again. And all of us find ourselves there, after the race. To have a drink. Amid what remains.
