Presented in Spanish Whether you come from the Spanish-speaking community of Montreal, whether you went to Costa Rica once in 2009 or whether you want to move to the furious Cumbia rhythms, this evening is for you! This double bill combines a reading of the piece UNO (the Spanish translation of UN) and the choreographic creation Sabor de mi Corazón, chapter I: Cumbia. The coming together of these two shows creates a unique diptych of the quest for a complex cultural heritage and identity and the quest for an expansive musical inheritance. The authors offer us a work of personal and collective memory, all in Spanish and in a festive atmosphere. 🟠 November 4 + 11 Quartiers philosophiques November 9 → 11 ZAMÂN ou on a le même temps qu’on avait  __ UNO The Spanish (Mexico) translation of UN has just been published! And what better occasion than to give it a first outing at La Chapelle. It asks, are all reflections on personal identity universalizable? Such is the question that this reading, as directed by Mani Soleymanlou and interpreted by Victor Andres Trelles Turgeon, inevitably asks. Will it resonate differently in this language? Will it resonate differently as war, flight and exile are more current issues than ever? SABOR DE MI CORAZÓN - CHAPTER I: CUMBIA Welcome to sonidero! Have a drink, dance and let the irresistible cumbia rhythms take over. From Colombia to Latin America, then from Latin America to the world, cumbia is the queen, the mama, who opens her arms to everyone. Born of a marriage between African drums and Indigenous flutes, its soul is rebellious, playful, sensual… It has a million faces! It will heal your wounds and make you forget your sorrows. This duo draws you into a festive journey, through the history and heritage of this musical genre and the cultures that have developed around it … if you let it.
