Taking it upon himself to surpass the Nepali Deepak Sharma Bajagain, who read 17 books by 13 different authors over 113 hours and 15 minutes between September 19 and 24, 2008 (thus becoming the holder of the world record for the longest continuous public reading marathon), Christian Lapointe will attempt, to our great delight, to read continuously the 28 volumes comprising the works of Antonin Artaud. The performance, which will also be streamed live online, will be an opportunity for this iconoclastic artist to fully embrace the complete work of one of the major authors of the 20th century. Only flowers will be requested as payment to come see and hear Lapointe read on stage in this Artaudian celebration actively breaking down the boundaries between endurance performance, online art, and literature. We can bet that after a few days of reading we will be able to fervently witness what Artaud called cruelty!
Continuous performance (24h/24h)
