Récits de neige

Inspired both by the scientific aspects of snow—the formation of crystals—and by the memories associated with it, Récits de neige (Tales of Snow) is the third instalment in Joane Hétu’s trilogy, following the themes explored in Musique d’hiver (1999) and Nouvelle musique d’hiver (2002). Récits de neige takes the form of a winter chronicle in which a multitude of sensations associated with snow and cold intertwine. Blending musical styles—including traditional scores, frameworks for structured improvisation, graphic scores, and sound textures—the performance will consist of several short pieces that can overlap, intertwine, and exchange places at the performers’ discretion, like snowflakes and gusts of wind in every snowstorm! Each evening will have just the right amount of chaos to make it unique. Récits de neige: three beautiful winter evenings filled with music, in an atmosphere as comforting as a cup of hot chocolate.
