Four extraordinary women, bound by deep complicity, surrender themselves completely to the music. Their bodies, shaken by rhythm, at once magnificent and gangly, remind us that beauty resides in the indescribable. Pow Wow is a gathering, an essential moment of exchange. It is a celebration of the body: a body that possesses chaotic and vital supernatural powers. These women are neither arrogant nor seductive, but simply self assured and mystical, invoking and harnessing the forces of instinct, synchronicity, and emancipation, giving life and meaning to a work that is both uplifting and exhilarating. Dany Desjardins seeks to move away from the usual themes and atmospheres of contemporary dance, duality, drama, irony, absurdity, and existential anguish, in order to return to the fundamental sources of dance: musicality, unison, celebration, sensuality, and the pleasure of being together.
