PEEP SHOW still presents itself today as a solo performance featuring a female character who, behind her screen, offers the spectator a live performance as a booth dancer. The scenography suggests a glass partition between the dancer and the spectator, who is addressed as though they were her client. In the second part, the separation becomes temporarily complete: we no longer physically see the dancer. Her shift in performative state is now broadcast live, allowing the spectator to suddenly enter the digitized environment of an erotic worker facing her webcam. PEEP SHOW thus creates a live interaction between the protagonist and the indecent propositions she receives via “chat,” the screen shifting from a simple display that separates the audience from the dancer into a porous surface that allows the infiltration of the winding paths of the internet’s universe. The spectators are taken hostage, compelled to embody both the booth’s clients and internet users—consuming and observing what they would likely prefer to keep private, what they might rather not confront about their own voyeuristic habits.
