Les avalanches tackles head-on gestures that alternate between love, possession and violence, assault and the confused reactions that follow. And how the healing process is a different experience for everyone. Avalanche : “Its onset is always brutal. Its capacity to bury and destroy is significant." - Wiki, my friend. In the works since 2018, Les avalanches is a performance that mixes dance, music, theatre and activism. It is a frank depiction of how gestures can alternate between love, possession and violence, and how assault can be insidious and provoke confused reactions. And how the healing process is a different experience for everyone. This production asks the following question: in a society that often defends rape culture, does someone need to live through an assault, or witness one from up close, for it to become a serious problem that is impossible to ignore?
