Zoutan, a mythical and influential internationally renowned artist, though known mainly within the artistic community, claims that in order to save humanity from its imminent downfall, we must create the “artistic revolution.” Like any revolution worthy of the name, human sacrifices are required. Zoutan has therefore issued a general call to find the first volunteer. Igor, a Montrealer of Russian origin who works as a pizza delivery driver, has decided to offer himself as a sacrifice and die in the name of the Artistic Revolution. Artists thus take part in this highly unusual ritual of execution. Talbin Fugère, an exalted poet; Torsten Beauchemin, a revolutionary choreographer of everyday life; Princesse PowPow, a deaf-mute burlesque artist; and L’enfant sauvage, a drawing virtuoso born in a garbage bin in São Paulo. The ritual is led by Chimène Rodrigue, mistress of ceremonies. A theatrical experience that breaks the fourth wall, Leçon d’hygiène, bestialités et mets canadiens playfully questions our relationship to art, sacrifice, and the role of the artist in society. With this new creation, Michel Monty and his collaborators offer a wildly unconventional and completely unrestrained experience.
