ET MOI POURQUOI J'AI PAS UNE BANANE

The Mobile Home company is joining forces with the French company Détournoyment to bring a selection of comic strips by the author Copi to the stage. Recent history has mainly focused on Copi’s theatrical work. Yet we were struck by his drawings and by the themes of freedom, contempt, totalitarianism, and repression that emerge from them. His language is distinctive and contemporary, his humor incisive. She is sitting. She is a woman. She is the seated woman. She seems idiotic, obtuse. Copi’s characters all are, in their own way. And they make us clearly see that we are just as stupid as they are. This may be a beginning of a solution: to realize, with humor, the extent of our stupidity in order to distance ourselves from it, at least a little.
